Producing a Collection: Print Making, CADs, Presentations & Social Media Strategy
The Eva & Marlowe Collection
As an inhouse-Graphic Designer working for Masala Baby, (A Women and Children's Clothing company based in New York City), it has been my responsibility to assist in the production and marketing processes for seasonal collections. The Eva and Marlowe Collection was a collaboration between Masala Baby and Happily Eva After, a brand ran by social media influencer Eva Amurri Martino, (The daughter of actress Susan Sarandon), where the parties worked together to produce a collection that reflected the style and values of both brands in a celebration of the synergy between them.
Project Breakdown, Producing a Collection:
Designing the Prints
When designing the prints I would be provided with some inspirational reference images and written notes by Masala Baby's head designer and CEO. This information would give me a robust idea of what type of content should be within the designs and so I would proceed to create the line art in Adobe Illustrator. I would have the design checked at each stage of creation, initial line art, conversion to a repeating pattern and then color.
The final document would be set up so that the colors were set onto their individual layers so that the head designer could play around with the colorways if they wanted to.
Making the CADs
Here are some examples of CADs that I produced. They would be drawn in Illustrator and saved as PSD files and then I would impose the pattern work onto them to give a clear idea of how the final product should appear.

Collection Concept Presentation for Fab India
This is an example of a document that I was assigned to put together which has been used to present a new collection concept to one of Masala Baby's business partners. It includes an inspiration board which tells the story of this collection, showing color, pattern and style influences, the patterns, which I designed for the collection based off of references given to me by the head designer, pantones, CADS and other details about the garments to clearly communicate to the viewers what will be involved in producing the clothing pieces.
